I was listening to the CBC radio program the "age of persuasion" on the topic of TV ads for kids in the 60s and 70s. There was an ad for the Easy Bake Oven! Ahh the memories! One of my favorite toys as a child. I got one in the very early 70s.
I loved that thing, and distinctly remember making a little chocolate cake with deep purple icing. I think I used almost the entire bottle of food colouring to get it that intense purple. I would love to recreate that cake today, I bet it would look really good today.
And my favorite cookbook as a kid ( beside my Winnie the Pooh Cookbook) was the Betty Crocker Boys and Girls Cook Book.
I remember making this salad ( or wanting to make this salad), I thought it was the just the cutest thing.
